Bandai Namco announced pre-downloads for Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown are available now on Android and iOS.
Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown is a brand-new action RPG featuring a story set after the events of the Alicization arc. Kirito and his friends decide to investigate the VR game known as “Cross Edge” after hearing that players may lose their memories after fighting a suspicious character. Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown’s gameplay is driven by the use of Ability Cards, which grant special buffs to characters. Players may bring up to 3 characters into battle with various Ability Cards.
Bandai Namco revealed some of the post-launch modes for Sword Art Online: Variant Showdown are in the works. First, Bandai Namco plans to add a 4-player PvP mode named Battle Royal. In Battle Royal, players compete to see how many opponents they can defeat within a time limit. Items may randomly spawn on the map to turn the tides against opposing players. Further, a new character customization mode will arrive after launch. Players may customize characters with accessories and costumes available in different color schemes.
