Persona 5 Royal Guide – Tanaka’s Shady Commodities

Phantom thieves need shady connections too.

Persona 5 Royal is available now across all major platforms, and Tanaka’s Shady Commodities also makes its return with useful items to purchase. In this spoiler-free guide, we reveal how to gain access to Tanaka’s Shady Commodities in Persona 5 Royal.

In order to access Tanaka’s Shady Commodities, players must first progress to the evening of September 1 in Persona 5 Royal. By September, Akihabara becomes an available location to visit and the secondhand shop is refreshed with new items. Morgana will remind the protagonist that the secondhand shop is worth visiting as well.

Fixing the Laptop

First, purchase the “broken laptop” for 500 yen at the secondhand shop. After obtaining the broken laptop, the “PC Tool Set” must be purchased from the machine parts store in Electric Town, Akihabara. The store’s icon is a wrench on the mini-map. Head back to Leblanc once both items were purchased.

Upon visiting the workbench in the attic of Leblanc, Morgana reminds the player that the broken laptop can be fixed. The new dialogue option “Let’s fix this laptop” is now available to select. Another dialogue prompt appears since fixing the laptop will progress the game to September 2. It’s worth doing though since it awards the player with a lot of Proficiency social stat points.

Access Granted

From September 2 and onward, the Dark Net is available with Tanaka’s Shady Commodities. Tanaka will sell very useful items and gear, so it’s worth visiting to check out the lineup of goods. Tanaka’s Shady Commodities features a ranking system affected by the amount of money spent at the shop. New products become available with each rank reached. Spend tons of yen and Tanaka will offer some high-end goods in no time.

Persona 5 Royal is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam worldwide.
