Sony Interactive Entertainment representative director Masayasu Ito to retire on October 1

Lin Tao to replace Ito this October.

Sony Interactive Entertainment representative director and deputy president Masayasu Ito will retire on October 1 according to a company press release.

Lin Tao will replace Ito as representative director and deputy president once October begins. Additionally, Kiichiro Urata, head of Japan Asia partner development and relations for Sony Interactive Entertainment, will become the new company director.

Ito played a major role in designing PlayStation hardware over the past decade including the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2.

Ito will remain at Sony Group’s Mobility division once he retires from his active roles at the company. Ito’s resignation was made due to reaching retirement age in Japan.
