The first off-screen footage of Yakuza 8 was revealed in a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio tour by MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, who confirms his role in the new title.
SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio confirmed Yakuza 8 was in development following the departures of Toshihiro Nagoshi and Daisuke Sato. The studio was restructured with appointed president Masayoshi Yokoyama at the helm, a development veteran for the Yakuza series.
During the studio tour, SEGA president Haruki Satomi and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio president Masayoshi Yokoyama offers Asakura a role in Yakuza 8. He accepted the offer in the video, and more details about the new game were revealed alongside footage.
Yakuza 8 features a new city, and another brand new game is in development at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio according to Satomi and Yokoyama. The off-screen footage shows Ichiban Kasuga, Koichi Adachi, and Yu Nanba during a cutscene. Following the footage, Asakura goes in for his 3D modeling shoot.

Yakuza 8 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2 are tentative titles for the Japanese and English releases respectively. Once development progresses further, more details will be shared including release dates, titles, and platforms.
