Bungie revealed Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted, the new season beginning on May 24th, 2022. The nightmare threat returns as Calus’ once-opulent ship returns as a corrupted derelict, setting its sights to the Pyramid on the Moon. Players will board the ship and discover what has happened to the Leviathan and uncover nightmarish secrets for the Vanguard.

The story continues following the events of The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen as focus shifts once more to the returning Leviathan. Players embark on the new Nightmare Containment scalable activity to cleanse the ship of nightmares. Afterwards, the story continues with new Sever weekly mission as the Vanguard aims to uncover Calus’ master plan.

Like prior seasons, Season of the Haunted introduces new gear to chase such as exotics, legendary gear, seasonal armor, cosmetics, and much more. Returning weapons from the Menagerie activity from years past are showcased as part of the new loot pool. In addition, the Trespasser exotic sidearm from Destiny: Rise of Iron finally returns as the seasonal exotic.

Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted brings forth a major overhaul to the Solar subclasses aptly named Solar 3.0. Players will hone their revamped Solar subclasses with Aspects and Fragments in similar fashion to the existing Stasis and Void subclasses. New Super and ability combinations allow for some creative new ways to inflict destruction on enemies. The Arc subclasses will be revamped in a later season to bring them up to date with the new system.

A new Artifact and set of Seasonal Mods will be introduced, giving players powerful perks to equip. These mods are important for tackling higher difficulty content. Some of the new mods likely synergize with the revamped Solar classes. It’s up to players to earn these mods and find out what suits their playstyle and favored class.
