Pokémon GO to receive new social features, updates to in-person raids

The Pokémon Company and Niantic announced that Pokémon GO will receive new social features and updates to in-person (local) raids. Some of the new social features are based in a separate Niantic app and will be available within Pokémon GO in the coming months. Niantic hopes the features allow players to easily communicate with each other, discover new communities and enjoy in-person raid battles.

Niantic confirmed new bonuses for local raid battles and changes to the item shop are coming soon. During May 2022, Mega Candy and Rare Candy XL are available as rewards for completing local raid battles. These items allow players to easily strengthen and evolve their Pokémon. Starting May 23rd, the item shop’s 1 PokéCoin Event Box will no longer include Remote Raid Passes. A rotating lineup of items will be offered instead.

More details about the new Pokémon GO updates are coming soon. Players can expect news to come as early as June 2022. Niantic hopes players around the world continue to enjoy the game and helps it thrive for many years to come. Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android worldwide. Another Pokémon mobile game, Pokémon Café ReMix, recently surpassed 12 million downloads across iOS, Android, and Switch.
