    Smash.gg announces rebrand to Start.gg, effective on May 16th

    Smash.gg announced that their platform is rebranding to Start.gg. The rebrand is effective starting May 16th, 2022. The rebrand hones into the concept of starting something anew in the gaming community and building upon it. In addition, major improvements will be made to the platform with the rebrand.

    Start.gg shared a look into their new search and discovery (shown above). The platform aims to make the discovery of new events much more streamlined. In addition, the homepage will feature aggregated gaming news from thousands of sources. These sources include media outlets and livestreams across platforms such as Twitch and YouTube Gaming. Working is currently in progress to create personalized algorithms to each user for relevant news and content.

    To celebrate the rebrand announcement, Start.gg announced the Launch League series of sponsored events. Launch League is partnered with major entities such as Panda, CEO, Combo Breaker and Microsoft for exciting current and new events. Additionally, prominent streamers and commentators such as Sajam and Void are partnering with Start.gg for Launch Leage. The lineup of participating games includes:

    • Several FGC titles
    • Valorant
    • Super Smash Bros Ultimate
    • Rocket League
    • Pokémon UNITE and more
