Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.11 to temporarily suspend housing purchases

Since the launch of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1: Newfound Adventure, the in-game housing system has been in a major crisis. Various issues and bugs were identified by the development team and general game maintenance is set for April 26th. Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.11 also releases on April 26th and will temporarily suspend housing purchases. In addition, the housing suspension includes relocation and recent lottery wins.

Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.11 maintenance does not include fixes for issues regarding the housing system. The relevant fixes and data restoration will be tackled on in separate maintenance at a later date. Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida shared the following message regarding patch 6.11 below:

Hello, this is Naoki Yoshida, Producer and Director of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

Once again, please allow me to apologize for the disruption caused by the problems with the housing lottery system introduced in patch 6.1.

In this post, I will explain our progress on the steps we laid out in the previous follow-up, then elaborate on our plans going forward and how they will affect the playerbase.

    • Reproducing the Issue and Further Investigation

    • Fixing Identified Errors

These steps are now complete. During this process, we also identified and addressed an issue affecting relocation between plots, which occurred rarely under certain conditions.

    • Verifying Fixes

We are currently in the process of verifying our fixes to the program on an internal development server. We previously announced an estimate of three to five business days to complete this step, but as we are checking everything with meticulous care, it may require several extra days to be fully certain that the issue is resolved.

    • Restoring Lottery Data

The same meticulous care is being taken with the lottery data. In our internal testing, we are replicating the exact same environment on the public servers to ensure that the data restoration proceeds without issue.

Patch 6.11 and Fixes to the Housing Lottery System

As the issues with the housing lottery system only affect the housing servers, Patch 6.11 will be released on Tuesday, April 26, as scheduled. To ensure the lottery system is fully stable, however, the related fixes and data restoration will not be included in Patch 6.11, but will instead be implemented in a separate maintenance at a later date. We understand the frustration this delay may cause, but ask for your patience as we take the necessary time to address these issues in a comprehensive manner.

Suspension of Plot Purchases and Relocation in Patch 6.11

The maintenance for Patch 6.11 will impose a temporary suspension of plot purchases and relocation for all players, including winners of the recent lottery. This suspension will continue until the fixes and data restoration for the housing lottery system have been successfully implemented. We encourage all players to finalize their winning claims or relocation plans before Tuesday, April 26, when the Patch 6.11 maintenance is scheduled to take place.

We once more offer sincere apologies to our disappointed players for both the issues we failed to detect and the excessive time required to fix and verify these problems. Rest assured that we are taking every precaution to ensure the smooth reintroduction of the lottery system, and appreciate your continued understanding and support.
