It’s almost Christmas which means that lots of people will receive a new Switch as a gift! Nintendo warned players about potentially making a new Nintendo account or buying games from the eShop. This is due to heavy traffic potentially impacting their servers during Christmas 2021 weekend. If possible, Nintendo recommends making these accounts (Switch family accounts included) before the 25th so that account creation isn’t impacted. During Christmas 2020, Nintendo suffered a day-long server outage and the warning comes with merit. Over 92 million Switch units have been sold so there’s bound to be a ton of users accessing the Switch eShop and Nintendo’s services at once.
