Nintendo shares a development history video on Metroid Dread featuring producer Yoshio Sakamoto

Announced in Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct just a few moments ago, Metroid Dread is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 8th! To celebrate the announcement, Nintendo has released a video reviewing the development history of a project which has seen many failed iterations over the past 15 years, and has remained a ghost name in Nintendo and Metroid fan circles until now.

Yoshio Sakamoto, the game’s producer, goes into detail about the hardships this title faced, and why MercurySteam (who previously worked on Metroid: Samus Returns, the 3DS reimagining of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Game Boy) was chosen to co-develop the project. You can check out the developer interview here!
