In new interviews at IGN and Famitsu, From Software’s Hidetaka Miyazaki shared new details about Elden Ring! Elden Ring spans across 6 major areas that act as large dungeons. Each area features a central “demigod” character similar to the lords from Dark Souls 3. Players can complete these areas in any order. Mini-dungeons, catacombs, castles and more are filled throughout the world. Like previous Souls games, there will be a hub for the player to upgrade weapons, rest up and more. The Souls series character creator is also returning.
Elden Ring also features multiple endings, optional bosses, and returning battle arts from Dark Souls 3. Throughout the journey, players may collect and equip Spirits which act similar to summons. These spirits all have different abilities and uses. Spirits are upgradeable along the way. 4 player multiplayer is re-confirmed during exploration but horseback riding is disabled. Although the player has many more options in Elden Ring than previous Souls games, there will be many challenges awaiting them. Lastly, Miyazaki states that the team is very confident about the current release date of January 21st 2022.
