Steve from Minecraft detailed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the latest Sakurai Presents, releases on October 13th.

Before Minecraft Live began, Masahiro Sakurai went over the mechanics of the upcoming Smash challenger, Steve from Minecraft. Steve is an intricate character all about resource management, as he has quite a few moves tied to the central mining and crafting mechanics of his home game. Moves like his down air and side special are tied to iron, and his neutral special becomes three different actions based on the context they’re used in.

Steve’s stage is Minecraft World, a collection of various Biomes from Minecraft. Blocks on the same plane as the fighters can be broken by attacks. On this stage, resources can be mined in greater quantity on specific block types. On Battlefield and Omega variants, the resources you mine are gained in a set order rather than randomly. The stage comes with 7 music tracks from Minecraft Dungeons and Earth.

Mii costumes this time around are the Creeper, Pig, and Diamond Armor from Minecraft, Gil from The Tower of Druaga, Bomberman, and Travis from No More Heroes. As usual, they’ll release alongside the new challenger pack.

Amiibo based on Banjo & Kazooie, Terry, and male Byleth have also been revealed and slated for release in 2021.

Finally, Steve will come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13th. In the meantime, stay tuned at Final Weapon for more in the latest on Japanese gaming news and updates!
