E3 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak and publishers have begun shifting their interests elsewhere. The ESA stated that their own E3 online event would arrive in June but they have confirmed today that no such thing will take place. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise to many with publishers ceasing interest in E3. Their interests have shifted toward online delivery of announcements such as Sony’s State of Play or a Nintendo Direct. In addition, IGN will take the early summer slot that E3 has always fulfilled in recent memory. IGN is hosting an online showcase event with major publishers and developers in early June.
Additionally, @PCGamer was able to get a statement from The ESA confirming the news we broke late last week.
There will be NO official E3 2020 online event. Here's the link and the relevant statement.https://t.co/m2QIpKcNPM pic.twitter.com/yJnK50kZj8
