Bill Gates is stepping down from Microsoft’s board of directors

    Published:

Bill Gates has been a important member of Microsoft’s board of director for years now, along with pioneering the company many years ago. Gates is entering an informal role at Microsoft as a technology adviser and leaving the board of directors. At 64 years old, he’s still wanting to help Microsoft’s board and leadership with advice. Gates is shifting his focus toward climate change and his own “philanthropic priorities.”

In the late 90’s, Microsoft was gaining momentum internally to enter the console space. This was a move that was shocking many at the time as rumors were swirling. SEGA’s Dreamcast included Microsoft’s Windows CE and Direct X technology, which eventually lead to Microsoft building the original Xbox. Bill Gates was all in for the Xbox and it showed during the unveiling alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson all those years ago. We thank him for helping pioneer that space in gaming and bringing another brand with fans to the market.
