Intel, AMD and Nvidia are working together for standardized ray tracing in Vulkan

Ray tracing has been a selling point of the RTX series of Nvidia GPUs but not widely adopted as developers and companies want it to be. GDC 2020 is coming soon and one of the developer panels is hosted by the Khronos Group, the company behind the successful Vulkan API. In the panel, members of Intel, AMD and Nvidia will be talking together about standardized ray tracing in Vulkan. This is an interesting discussion to be made as AMD is working on ray tracing support for their upcoming GPUs. In addition, Intel is working on their own GPUs which could have ray tracing support. However, ray tracing is not at a standard yet across the board so this upcoming panel could help in that regard. More details about the panel are available here.
