The Borderlands games have sold five million copies in three months

The publicity of Borderlands 3 and the recent sales on several Borderlands titles have clearly been utilized. Since the last quarter, the Borderlands games have roughly sold five million copies. The news was officially announced via today’s Take-Two quarterly earnings call with investors. Through the call, the publisher announced that the games are now up to 48 million total sold copies. This number is up from 43 million last quarter, adding up to a five million total increase in sales.

It’s quite amazing that games those old would be so much higher, though there’s definitely some influences factored in. The biggest of those increases is obviously the announcement of Borderlands 3 at Pax back in late March. Following that though, there was the enhanced edition of the original game which had plenty of players buying that to play it. And on top of all that, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection has had several really good sales (at around $3!) topping it all off.

This is amazing news on the side of both Gearbox Software and Take-Two. The publisher still plans to sell more copies of Borderlands 3 than 2, and the reveals/trailers are sure to help that front.

Borderlands 3 will be releasing for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 13th, 2019. The game will also release for Google Stadia. If you’re excited for the game, make sure to let us know!
