Microtransactions are coming to Crash Team Racing

I’m sure you’ll be very surprised by what I’m about to tell you. Crash Team Racing, like a lot of games these days, is getting microtransactions after launch. The CTR team took to their official blog to announce not only this but a whole host of new cosmetics you can buy!

With the new update, you’ll be able to buy cosmetics with Wumpa Coins as you could previously. The difference now is that you can purchase bundles to fast track this progression. This will be done through your respective console store, with prices coming soon. The team wants to reassure you though, saying you’ll be able to earn them regularly. You’re just able to purchase them if you so choose. No matter how they put this though, it still remains quite a shame. The original CTR didn’t have microtransactions, so this change comes across as nothing but greedy.

Regardless, there’s at least some content for players to look forward to. Starting it all off, there’s a new prehistoric track coming to the game by the name of Prehistoric Playground. This track promises to offer many staples of the prehistoric era such as paintings, massive plants, and of course dinosaurs. This track is sure to offer up some interesting ways to traverse the level, and should have players excited.

There’s also going to be a whole new range of cosmetic items, challenges, and rewards that players can obtain. Outside of MTX, there’s a lot to be appreciated about this update. You can refer to the above graphic if you’re curious.

Crash Team Racing is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
