C#4R4CT3R has released a demo for Rain98, available now on PC via Steam, ahead of its launch later this year. The demo is approximately 3 hours and allows players to experience the game until Chapter 2.
The demo supports Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, French, and German language options. Shoon T, the game’s director, comments on its release:
Finally, the day has come when you can all play Rain98. We did it! Everyone on the team is both nervous and incredibly excited to see so many of you getting to experience the game.
In rainy Tokyo, 1998, you’ll share all kinds of meals with Reina, walk through the city together, and get roped into her strange little games. As you get swept along by Reina, we hope you’ll enjoy these unforgettable days that belong only to you and Reina-days that are a little unsettling, yet somehow funny in their own peculiar way.
This demo lets you play through partway into Chapter 2, but we’re also planning an update that will allow you to play all the way to the end of Chapter 2. And in the full game, which consists of seven chapters, we intend to take you somewhere you could never have imagined. What will you encounter beyond that point? We hope you’ll look forward to finding out!
