Capcom has announced that the free “Prologue” demo for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds will release on October 19 in the Nintendo eShop. The Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo contains the opening of the game’s story, and save data can be carried over to the full game on Nintendo Switch 2. The demo doesn’t support online multiplayer.

Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4. Final Weapon previously had the opportunity to preview the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance expansion is also coming to Nintendo Switch 2, which is in development for a 2027 release. Among the confirmed monsters, Elder Dragon Teostra will be making a return in the Ascendance expansion.

What’s more, Capcom recently released new trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance to introduce the game’s new Boosted Actions for all 14 weapon types. Boosted Actions are accessible with the Boost Bracer, a new hunting action that will be introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.

Monster Hunter Wilds is already available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A free demo for Monster Hunter Wilds is also available alongside the game’s latest major update, which lets players transfer progress over from the demo. In addition, there are various new bundles for Monster Hunter Wilds that have replaced the old editions of the game.
