4Divinity and SwordPandaGames have revealed a new gameplay trailer for action RPG Sword Sage: Awakening at Gamescom 2026. The new trailer offers another look at Sword Sage: Awakening protagonist Pei Sanniang along with the game’s fast-paced sword gameplay, deadly Yaoguai, and landscapes of Jiannandao.

The Cliff Carved Scriptures, A Thousand Year Curse
The Gibbon Sage, warden of White Cloud Grotto, was charged with safeguarding the Celestial Books. In a drunken frenzy, he annotated these Celestial Books and carved them into a cliff, loosing a thousand‑year yaoguai calamity.
Undaunted, the folk of Guannandao forged ingenious contraptions and fought yaoguais through generations. Pei Sanniang, young disciple of the Yuangong Sect, comes home from her wanderings to find ominous beings laying waste to Guannandao. Her homeland hangs on the edge of ruin.
Evade Cyan, Strike Red
Cyan stands for an enemy’s weapon or incoming strikes, while Red denotes their body. Disciples of the Yuangong Sect master swordplay and counter enemies using Evade Cyan, Strike Red.
When blocking with your weapon, observe incoming strikes from the enemy’s upper, middle or lower directions. Evade Cyan with correct direction and timing, then execute Strike Red with a counter‑attack.
Mastery Diverse Swordplay
Weapons are prone to fracture when fighting yaoguai. Disciples of the Yuangong Sect carry sword cases on their backs, capable of rapidly forging two weapons within them. They may also learn diverse skills through weapon mastery.
For instance, Unsheathed Chop lets you deliver a swift strike against enemies while forging a weapon. The more potent Unsheathed Fire Chop demands well‑timed, rapid forging to cast fire damage upon enemies.
Spirit Shaping Craft
Disciples of the Yuangong Sect master the Spirit Shaping Craft, gathering spirit to forge divine weapons. Weapons fall into three types: Three Chi Sword, Horse‑Cleaving Sword, and Twin Swords. Each weapon type boasts a host of martial‑arts techniques to learn, and every individual weapon bears its own unique weapon skill.
Lessons from Enemies
Powerful enemies unleash relentless attacks, including unpredictable ordinary strikes and unblockable critical skills. All enemy attacks shift between upper, middle and lower directions. Precise, repeated use of Evade Cyan, Strike Red is your best way to prevail. To stand against mighty enemies, consistent and precise execution of Evade Cyan, Strike Red is the surest way to victory.
