During Gamescom 2026, Spike Chunsoft confirmed that Danganronpa 2×2 will be released on a Game-Key Card in all regions for Nintendo Switch 2. Spike Chunsoft notes that this decision was not taken lightly and follows careful consideration, but did not state an exact reason for why Danganronpa 2×2 will ship as a Game-Key Card.
Customers who pre-ordered the Danganronpa 2×2 Psycho Tropical Vacation Package for Nintendo Switch 2 from Spike Chunsoft Official Store US will have their orders canceled, with an email notification also being sent. Pre-orders from retailers and Spike Chunsoft Official Store UK or EU will not be canceled, but customers are still being notified about the game’s status as a Game-Key Card title. Pre-orders for Danganronpa 2×2 for Nintendo Switch 2 (Game-Key Card) are now open as well.
Danganronpa 2×2 launches in 2027 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

As previously announced, Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka is working on Danganronpa 2×2 alongside developers from Too Kyo Games, Spike Chunsoft, and Gemdrops. Kodaka is supervising the story and providing story and trick ideas. Character designer Rui Komatsuzaki and composer Masafumi Takada also return.
