Team Ninja has released the patch notes for Nioh 3 version 2.00.01, which will release on August 19 alongside the Hell Rising DLC. The DLC will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

The patch notes are as follows:

DLC: Hell Rising

How to play Hell Rising

    • This DLC will become available upon purchase of either the DLC Hell Rising or the Nioh 3 Season Pass. This DLC will become available on the release date once you have purchased either the DLC Hell Rising or the Nioh 3 Season Pass.

    • Added Hell Rising, the first half of a new story.
      • To play Hell Rising, you must first complete the base game.

    • Added the hoko and shield and ninja hoko and shield.
      • These weapons become available from “1572 CE – Warring States” onward.

    • Added the new Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls element.
      • This element will be unlocked upon completing a certain Myth in the DLC Hell Rising. Once the element is unlocked, defeated enemies will drop a Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scroll on rare occasions. With a Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scroll in their possession, players will be able to challenge themselves to a Picture Scroll Mission. Completing that mission will enable them to equip that Picture Scroll, further strengthening the player. In addition to being dropped by enemies, Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls can also be acquired from other players in multiplayer sessions. Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls missions can be undertaken in multiplayer mode via Expeditions.

    • Added a new difficulty mode.
      • The Enlightened One’s Journey difficulty will be unlocked upon completion of Shogun’s Journey. In Enlightened One’s Journey, players will be able to obtain even more powerful equipment, Soul Cores, and Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls, and their Level cap and +value cap through Soul Matching will also increase. There will also be Grace effects randomly bestowed with Divine rarity that are exclusive to the Enlightened One’s Journey playthrough. Some equipment drops will also be randomly bestowed with powerful, helpful special effects.

    • In Enlightened One’s Journey, enemies will be stronger and their resistances will be strengthened. Some enemies will also be bestowed with a Curse buff that further strengthens them. However, performing a Burst Break, destroying their weak points, or performing a Grapple will temporarily disable the Curse buff. Defeating these enemies will guarantee an item drop of Divine rarity and will also increase the chance of the player being bestowed with powerful special effects.

    • Added new yokai, Soul Cores, Summoning Seals, and Onmyo Magic.
    • Added new Guardian Spirits.
    • Added new weapons, armor, and accessories.
    • Added new Martial Arts and Ninjutsu.
    • Added new skills.
    • Added new Gestures and Transformations.
    • Added new trophies, titles, and play records.

Also made it possible to deal damage to the max Ki of yokai enemies.
