Kadokawa has released a new trailer for the Pan Dorobō anime, which reveals the opening theme and new cast details for the series. The anime will premiere in October 2026.
Ayaka Asai and Junichi Suwabe perform the theme, aptly named “Pan Dorobō no Uta” (Pan Dorobō Song). The cast includes Ayaka Asai as Pan Dorobō, Aki Toyosaki as Nise Pan Dorobō, and Junichi Suwabe as Panya no Ojisan. Takahiko Kyōgoku is directing the anime at Shinei Animation and Chie Yamashiro is the assistant director. Mako Miyako is designing the characters and Mariko Mochizuki charge of series scripts. Further, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will perform the anime’s ending theme song, also titled “Pan Dorobō.”

The series focuses on a piece of living bread that steals bread from bakeries in the city. Keiko Shibata published the first picture book in the series in April 2020. The seventh picture book, Pan Dorobō to Sweets Ōji (Bread Thief and the Old Sweets Man), shipped on September 10, 2025. Currently, the book series has 4.5 million copies in circulation and has won numerous awards including the 11th LIBRO Picture Book Prize. Details about the anime’s exact release date, whether or not it will have an English dub, and which streaming services it will air on, will likely be available at a later date.
