The recent combined issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits has revealed that Masami Yūki will publish a second Patlabor one-shot manga. It will debut in the magazine’s next issue on August 17.
Yūki was part of the Headgear creative group that originally conceptualized the Patlabor franchise. Yūki drew the manga adaptation of the franchise in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1988 to 1994. Shogakukan compiled the series in 22 volumes. Additionally, Viz Media released the first two volumes in English in 1998. The rest of the manga has not yet been released. The first new Patlabor one-shot story initially launched on May 18.
Recently, Discotek revealed that it would re-release Patlabor the Mobile Police, Patlabor the Mobile Police: The New Files OVA, and Patlabor: The Movies in Blu-ray formats in late 2026. Patlabor the Mobile Police will include “improved subtitles” and “significant improvement on video quality over prior releases,” alongside an English dub. Both the OVA and movie re-releases will also include both English subtitles and dubbed options, though the OVA will only include a dub for the first four episodes.
Chime and Good Smile Company will release PATLABOR the Case Files for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam releasing later this summer. Pre-orders for the physical PATLABOR The Case Files Standard Edition (PlayStation 5) are available now for 6,380 yen at Japanese retailers and will be available soon at Playasia. A Special Edition will be available for 11,220 yen at the Good Smile Company online store.
Special Edition continues include the game, an exclusive “MODEROID Griffon the Case Files: Color Ver.” limited edition plastic model, and the 30-track original soundtrack CD. The game will feature Japanese voice-overs with English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options.
