The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, the organizer of Anime Expo, has announced that Anime Expo 2026 reached a record of 422,000 “turnstile attendees.” It is an increase from last year’s record of 410,000 attendees.
“Turnstile attendance” is the number of total attendees on each day. As a result, the statistic counts a person who uses a four-day pass four times. The SPJA stated this year’s event had an estimated economic impact of more than $115 million, an increase from the approximately $110 million last year. This year’s iteration of the event marked its 35th anniversary.
During the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Panel at Anime Expo 2026, CD Projekt Red and Studio TRIGGER announced that the anime “10:15 Saturday Night” by The Cure will be the opening theme, while Petite Meller will perform the ending theme song, “Watson.” This is in addition to the “You Can’t Run From Me” song by Rico Nasty, which she created specifically for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
The cast of the anime includes:
- Clancy Brown/Kentaro Tone as Weak
- “Once known as “King,” a veteran edgerunner at the top of his game, Weak now lives in the shadow of his former glory.”
- Nazeeh Tarsha/Koki Uchiyama as D
- “A Snake Nation netrunner with sharp technical skills and a sharper hunger for revenge, D hunts the killer who wiped out his clan.”
- Kimoy Lee/Akari Kito as Talia
- “Raised in corpo towers but hardened in Maelstrom’s grip, Talia is fiercely independent and steeped in the gang’s hyper-violent, chrome-obsessed culture.”
- Valeria Rodriguez/Momoka Terasawa as Roman Carax
- “Roman Carax is a young cinephile chasing real stories in a city that’s abandoned film for braindance. Obsessed with documenting truth, he shadows the lives of others — only to learn that unlike his favorite reels, Night City’s stories are messy, brutal, and rarely tied up with a clean ending.”
The anime will begin streaming this fall on Netflix.
