The staff behind the Haruhi Suzumiya anime franchise has announced that a 20th anniversary exhibition dedicated to it will take place on August 10. It will last until August 30 at the Sunshine City Exhibition Hall D in Tokyo.

Admission tickets are available for 2,500 yen (approximately 15 USD) on LAWSON TICKET. Furthermore, limited-edition exchange tickets for the SOS Brigade Leader’s armband are on sale for 2,000 yen (approximately 12 USD). The full name of the exhibition is “TV Anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 20th Anniversary Memorial: SOS Exhibition – The Exhibition of Haruhi Suzumiya Who Greatly Spread Excitement all Over the World.”

The exhibition consists of two parts: the “The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya” section, which focuses on the series’ story via rare production materials and photo spots, such as the SOS Brigade clubroom. Then there is “The Phenomenon of Haruhi Suzumiya” section, which highlights the influence the series has had on modern culture from various perspectives. Additionally, exclusive goods, such as newly drawn illustrations for this exhibition and a guidebook covering the contents of the display will be available for purchase.

Crunchyroll currently streams The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya with English subs and an English dub. Nagaru Tanigawa’s The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel is currently available for purchase in English at Yen Press. Lastly, Yen Press describes the novel as follows:

Haruhism has seized the nation with the release of the highly successful animated series DVD that was one of the top ten bestselling anime properties in 2007. Yen Press and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish the novel and manga series back-to-back, with hardcovers of the novels with the original Japanese cover art for libraries and hardcore fans of the property.

When Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself to Kyon by asking if he’s an alien, time traveler, or psychic, he knows his chances for a normal high school experience are ruined. Bold Haruhi takes a shine to him, and uses the force of her irrepressible personality to draft him into her club to find paranormal beings. Kyon soon discovers what she’s looking for: Haruhi herself has the power to destroy and create entire universes at her whim. But if she knew about her ability, it could spell disaster for everyone.
