Crunchyroll has announced that it will re-release Akira in 4K and IMAX theater formats in both the United States and Canada on September 4. Both it and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film.
The film will release in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English Dub. Check out the trailer announcing the re-release of Akira below:

Currently, tickets for the re-release are unavailable. However, Crunchyroll and Sony will likely launch tickets for Akira either later in July or throughout August. Lastly, the film is available to stream now on the streaming service.
