Funcom has announced that update 1.4 and The Water Wars DLC for Dune: Awakening will release on May 19. The DLC will cost $9.99, or will be available for free for those who purchased the $24.99 season pass.
The update adds a new area known as The Wind Pass. The location was once a Harkonnen tech hub, but is now a key point in Arrakis’ water trade under the control of the Water Shippers. There’s also a new Testing Station, The Old Quarry, where players will confront the morally questionable scientist Dr. Jalanta in a hidden laboratory. There will be no new story content, so the developers can focus on requested features and add narrative additions in a later update. These changes come in addition to update 1.3.20, which made PvP in the game an optional toggle.
The Water Wars DLC adds building pieces and cosmetics based on the ruthless Water Shippers, the dynasty controlling most of the water trade on Arrakis. This is the last DLC as part of the game’s season pass. It is unknown whether or not more DLC will release at a later date.
