Exactly a year after the global version of War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shut down, the Japanese version is following its same fate. Square Enix and gumi have confirmed that War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will be shutting down on May 28 in Japan.
An offline version of War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius was initially considered for Japan, but the development team determined the game would be too difficult to properly recreate due to its reliance on online battles, guild content, and player interaction. Square Enix will instead prepare videos that fans can watch to revisit the story, along with a memorial book.
The global version of War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius was shut down permanently on May 29, 2025. Square Enix had determined that the game would be difficult to maintain the game over time. Before the shutdown, Square Enix hosted the final War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius livestream on March 26, 2025.
War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius first launched on November 14, 2019, followed by the worldwide launch on March 25, 2020 for Android and iOS.
