Mobile Fighter G Gundam Anime 30th Anniversary Short Released

A "fighting movie" that commemorates a major milestone.

The Gundam YouTube channel has released a new animated short for Mobile Fighter G Gundam, which was made to commemorate the anime’s 30th anniversary. The short is described as a “fighting movie.” 

The short initially released two years ago, thirty years after the original anime premiered in 1994. The staff behind the short created it using experimental digital animation techniques, including 3D CG during the previsualization stage to plan out motion sequences. The most recent Gundam film, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, opened on January 30 across 365 theaters in Japan. North American screenings will follow at a later date. The first Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway film was re-cut into four episodes, which began broadcasting weekly on Nippon TV’s AnichU programming block on January 6.

R&B and hip-hop singer-songwriter SZA performs the opening theme song “Snooze.” It features the ending theme song “Sweet Child O’ Mine” by legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses. SennaRin performs the insert song “ENDROLL” with Yōhei Kawakami of Alexandros. The film featured many of the songs from a recent album from SennaRin and Hiroyuki Sawano, titled LOSTandFOUND. Lastly, the cast members of the sequel include:
