Warner Bros. has released trailer 2 for the upcoming Mortal Kombat II film, which will release in theaters on May 8. The trailer further focuses on the movie’s characters and story.

Last year, New Line revealed that it is already planning to make Mortal Kombat III, with Jeremy Slater set to return as screenwriter. The release date and story for Mortal Kombat III are currently unknown. However, according to Deadline, alongside Jeremy Slater returning as screenwriter, Todd Garner will return to produce the sequel. More details about the sequel will likely release after Mortal Kombat II debuts in theaters on May 8, 2026.

On October 30, 2025, Digital Eclipse released its latest collection, the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The game launched on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. The collection included a documentary which focused on the history of the franchise and how it came to be, as well as multiple games from the series’ past. Specifically, it includes Mortal Kombat – 1992 (Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear), Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995 (Arcade, WaveNet Arcade, SNES), and more.
