Idea Factory’s Otomate visual novel brand has revealed Hakuōki Ibun: Berezinskii no Majo (Hakuōki Strange Tale: The Witch of Berezinski) will launch on August 27 for Nintendo Switch in Japan. The game’s release date was confirmed alongside four new game announcement at the Dessert de Otomate 2026 event.
Originally announced in February 2024, Hakuōki Ibun: Berezinskii no Majo takes place during Napoleon’s invasion campaign of Russia. The new spinoff is set nearly half a century before and halfway around the world from the established Bakumatsu era setting of the Hakuōki series.
In addition to Hakuōki Ibun: Berezinskii no Majo, Otomate revealed Ayashiki Tōgenkyō no Aria, a new visual novel for Switch that serves as a Japanese adaptation of the Alice in Wonderland story. The game takes place in the Peach Blossom Land utopia from Tao Yuanming’s The Peach Blossom Spring story.
Further, Otomate and Omegaverse will release Kimi ni Madio, Kimi ni Oboreru on July 30 for Nintendo Switch in Japan, followed by Otomate’s Mix Dunk -King of Basketball- later in 2026. Mix Dunk -King of Basketball- stars a protagonist who joins the Kawasaki Brave Thunders professional basketball team and competes in a coed basketball league. Otomate is developing the game in collaboration with the real-life team and AKB48.
Lastly, Otomate revealed Sullyland Nursery Rhyme, a dark fantasy visual novel for Nintendo Switch set in the floating holy city of Marenes. A release date was not announced.
