Valve has announced that the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model is no longer in production, and will no longer be sold. The reason for the decision is currently unknown.
The official Steam Deck website states that “We are no longer producing the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model. Once sold out, it will no longer be available.” Already, the model is completely out of stock. Initially, it cost $399. Currently, the only two models of the Steam Deck that are available is the $550 512GB OLED model and the $649 1TB OLED model.
Recently, Valve revealed a new hardware lineup to complement the existing Steam Deck—Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame. Although the Steam Controller and Steam Machine should be familiar to Steam faithfuls, the hardware has been revamped completely. Steam Controller, Steam Machine and Steam Frame will launch in early 2026, and distribution will be handled by Valve just like the Steam Deck. Pricing is to be determined. The Verified program will also extend to Steam Machine and Steam Frame to bring updates and transparency regarding native support. If a game is Steam Deck Verified, it will automatically become Steam Machine Verified.
The Steam Machine is back as a compact machine six times more powerful than Steam Deck, according to Valve. Serving as a small form factor PC, Steam Machine runs SteamOS like any other Steam hardware, and the system has a front LED strip that is customizable in settings. The front panel is also customizable.
Additionally, The Steam Controller is designed with comfort and control in mind with magnetic TMR thumbsticks, HD rumble with haptic feedback, grip-enabled gyro called Gyro Sense (hold and release to enable/disable), trackpads, a Steam button, and Quick Access menu functionality, along with the standardized button layout commonly seen on controllers for PC.
