During the game’s WePlay Expo 2025 stage event, more details about STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT, the remake of the original Steins;Gate visual novel, were revealed by series producer Tatsuya Matsubara, scenario writer Naotaka Hayashi, and vocalist Kanako Itou. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will feature a story with a script using Elite’s script as a base, and a new story ending has been added alongside the game’s original six endings.
According to Matsubara and Hayashi, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will feature newly drawn sprites at an extremely high quality, with Kurisu’s sprite being drawn at a resolution of 2743×9605. In game, the sprite will be 1000 pixels tall. Moreover, Kanako Itou will perform a new ending theme song for the new ending to STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT. Hayashi and Chiyomaru Shikura are also working on the next entry in the series, which was previously teased as Steins;???.
Before being delayed, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT was planned to release in 2025. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will feature new story elements and graphics, including renewed character designs by character designer huke. Outfits and accessories were also redesigned with more detail that makes characters even more lively. The background graphics, using reference materials from the time, strongly depict 2010’s Akihabara. Locations from the original game were newly added to further enhance the story.
Lastly, Spike Chunsoft and MAGES. will release STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT in 2026 for PC via Steam, and more details will be revealed at a later date.
