Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 Becomes First Japanese Film to Reach 100 Billion Yen Globally

The Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns film has become the first Japanese film to earn over 100 billion yen ($644 million) worldwide, as of Sunday, November 16. The film sold 89,177,796 tickets for about 106,370,568,950 yen ($685 million).

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns is the highest-grossing anime film of all time, in addition to reaching the first-ever 100 billion yen milestone as a Japanese film. The movie debuted in China on November 14 and reached an estimated total of $730 million worldwide. The movie earned 373 million RMB, or roughly $52.53 million, in its first three days in China, with IMAX screenings generating $12.3 million.

Haruo Sotozaki directed the film at studio ufotable. In addition, Akira Matsushima is the character designer and chief animation director. Further, Aimer performs the theme song “Taiyō ga Noboranai Sekai (A World Where the Sun Never Rises),” while LiSA performs the song “Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake (Shine in the Cruel Night).”
