The Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns film has earned an estimated total of $730 million worldwide following its debut in China. The movie earned 373 million RMB, or roughly $52.53 million, in its first three days in China, with IMAX screenings generating $12.3 million.
With the Chinese release, the Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza Returns film earned an estimated total of $349.5 million in Crunchyroll and Sony markets (outside Japan and other Asia markets) to reach the $730 million total.
Previously, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Infinity Castle – Akaza Returns is the first Japanese film to exceed $600 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing anime film ever. The film also surpassed 35 billion yen in revenue in Japan, making it the second ever film to reach the milestone at the box office.
Haruo Sotozaki directed the film at studio ufotable. In addition, Akira Matsushima is the character designer and chief animation director. Further, Aimer performs the theme song “Taiyō ga Noboranai Sekai (A World Where the Sun Never Rises),” while LiSA performs the song “Zankoku no Yoru ni Kagayake (Shine in the Cruel Night).”
