JAKKS Pacific has announced that it is renewing its partnership with SEGA for Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise. The partnership will extend until 2029.
In a press release, JAKKS said the following about the announcement: “JAKKS will continue to design, manufacture, market, and sell Sonic the Hedgehog branded toy product lines worldwide. This multi-year partnership extends until 2029, allowing JAKKs to continue to design and produce action figures, playsets, vehicles, plush, collectibles, and other categories.”
Additionally, in a statement, Virginia Reneau, Senior Vice President of Licensing at JAKKS Pacific, Inc. stated that “Our Sonic the Hedgehog line continues to perform strongly at retail, and has consistently connected with fans worldwide throughout our partnership with SEGA over the last 6 years. From action figures to playsets and plush, the brand has seen steady growth since the beginning of our collaboration and we look forward to building on that momentum with exciting new offerings well into the future, which we can’t wait to share with the fans.”
Earlier this year, JAKKS and SEGA released merchandise and a new toy line based on the collaboration between Sonic the Hedgehog and DC. The new products include action figures, plushies, and toy vehicles. In the past, JAKKS has made toy action figures and plushies based on specific IPs like Sonic the Hedgehog or Frozen. It will be continuing this trend with the upcoming collaboration. In fall 2025, action figures, plushies, and vehicles based on characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, and more will release.
All JAKKS toys made with SEGA so far are available on the company’s official website or at select retailers.
