SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is back in the limelight with the release of the latest “Japanese Voice Cast” trailer, but it’s not for hype behind the game. Teruyuki Kagawa, the actor accused of sexually harassing two women in 2019 and later admitted to sexual misconduct in 2022, is featured in the latest Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties trailer, and fans aren’t happy in the comments of the video on YouTube.
The #REMOVEKAGAWA hashtag, which began shortly after SEGA and RGG Studio confirmed Kagawa’s involvement in the cast as Goh Hamazaki, is experiencing an influx of activity with the release of the latest trailer. Many longtime Yakuza and Like a Dragon fans are voicing their frustrations about Kagawa and the remake, with some opting to forgo a purchase of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties entirely.
What’s more, the change.org petition for Kagawa’s removal from the Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties cast has surpassed 8,000 signatures, all while SEGA and RGG Studio have yet to publicly acknowledge the fans’ concerns and criticisms. Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is currently planned to launch on February 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The release includes a remake of 2009’s Yakuza 3 and the new Dark Ties title, a Like a Dragon Gaiden-style game featuring Yoshitaka Mine as the protagonist. Yakuza Kiwami 3 features revamped gameplay, story changes, new cast members and English voice-overs, and new cutscenes in the Dragon Engine.
