Super Smash Bros. series director and Kirby creator Masahiro Sakurai announced a new educational manga titled Manga de Shiru Hito to Shigoto Sakurai Masahiro Game de Sekai wo Motto Tanoshiku (Learn about People and Work Through Manga: Masahiro Sakurai – Making the World More Fun with Games) will launch on November 18, two days before the launch of Kirby Air Riders for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 20.
The new manga covers the life of Masahiro Sakurai, including his childhood with games, the creation of Kirby, the beginning of the Super Smash Bros. series, Sora Ltd.’s founding, and his future. Sakurai is supervising the new manga, and East Press is publishing the 160-page book.
What’s more, the new Kirby & Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee & Winged Star amiibo will launch on November 20 alongside Kirby Air Riders. Players can tap them to summon Figure Players in-game that you can train and level up, and the amiibo also allows them to swap riders just like in the game to choose your rider and machine. Fans can also look forward to a second Kirby Air Riders Direct, hosted by director Sakurai.
This successor to 2003’s Kirby Air Ride offers many new features, including a wide range of playable characters across the Kirby series, a variety of machines, and more. City Trial is set to return, and there are likely more surprises in store that we’ll learn about in the second Direct presentation.
