Ubisoft has announced the next expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, titled “From The Ashes.” It will release on December 19, on the same day as the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash film.

The expansion takes place after the events of the main story, and a few weeks after Fire and Ash. The website describes the story for “From The Ashes” as follows: “‘From the Ashes’ takes place shortly after the events of the main game and takes you on the journey of So’lek, a battle-hardened Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan. Ambushed and left for dead by the RDA and their new allies, the ruthless Ash clan, So’lek awakens to a world in flames and his Sarentu family scattered. Driven by grief and vengeance, he sets out to reunite with and protect his loved ones.”

The game will add a third-person perspective in a future update. The update, which also adds New Game Plus, will release on December 5 to commemorate the launch of the Avatar: Fire and Ash movie. The third-person perspective features reworked animations, controls, audio, and camera systems. New Game Plus will allow players to re-experience the game while keeping their inventory and skills.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Steam page describes it as follows:

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person, action-adventure game set in the Western Frontier. Abducted by the RDA, you, a Na’vi, were molded to serve their purpose. Fifteen years later, you are free, but find yourself a stranger in your birthplace. Reconnect with your lost heritage and discover what it truly means to be Na’vi as you join other clans to protect Pandora.
