Sony Music Masterworks has announced that the opening theme of the Chainsaw Man anime, “KICK BACK” by Kenshi Yonezu, has achieved RIAA Platinum Certification. It is now the first and only song written and performed in Japanese to be certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Yonezu initially released “KICK BACK” when the first season of Chainsaw Man premiered in 2022. He will return to perform the opening and ending theme for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc. The opening theme is “IRIS OUT,” while the ED is called “JANE DOE.” Both are available to stream now on various music streaming services. Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will open with midnight screenings on September 19 in Japan across 12 theaters in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. There will be MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema screenings. The movie heads to US theaters on October 24 with English dubs and English subs with Japanese voice-overs.
What’s more, the movie premieres September 24 internationally and October 29 in the U.K. Maximum The Heroine performs the insert song “Hawatari Nioku Centi [2-hundred-million-Centimeter-long-blades] (70% Unlocked edit).” The cast includes:
