DMM Games and Too Kyo Games have released multi-genre adventure game Shuten Order for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. To celebrate the launch of Shuten Order, story writer Kazutaka Kodaka shared a message about the game.
“This ambitious project about a religious cult and the shocking murder of its leader is packed with five adventure games,” Kodaka said on X (formerly Twitter). “Thanks to DMM GAMES, we were able to bring such an edgy and daring game to console players. It’s not shock value for its own sake. The surprising twists are just, and could only exist because of its peculiar setting. I think it’s been a while since we’ve managed to pull off a trick that’s unique to games, so I hope players will experience that sense of surprise for themselves. Happy New End… Have a good end.”
A Shuten Order Digital Deluxe Edition is available for $64.99 featuring a visual art book and mini soundtrack in the Nintendo eShop. A Ministry Edition ($59.99) is available in the Spike Chunsoft Store featuring the Steam game voucher, a sticker sheet, and clear file.
Early purchases of Shuten Order on Steam include “Before the Murders – case: Manji Fushicho” original digital novel, which was written by Kodaka. Players must purchase the game between September 5 and September 19 at 9:59 a.m. PDT / 12:59 p.m. EDT to receive the novel.
Here’s a synopsis of the novel:
Set five years before the events of the main game, this novel tells the story of Manji Fushicho, before she became Minister of Security. She is captured by heretics and subjected to a brutal “awakening test”. At the end of this harsh trial, she makes a decision. This is the origin of the woman who would eventually become feared as the “Queen of Heretic Hunting”.
