RedOctane Games has announced its opening as a studio, which was founded by veteran developers from rhythm game franchises like Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. Among the studio’s leadership is Simon Ebejer, the production director of Guitar Hero at Neversoft, former studio head at Vicarious Visions, and former VP of Operations at Blizzard Entertainment for the launch of Diablo IV.

RedOctane Games is focused solely on evolving the rhythm game genre by combining past elements with innovation. The team has been busy in pre-production over the past few months and has entered production on the studio’s debut rhythm game, which is expected to be officially announced by the end of 2025.

The RedOctane Games team includes veteran developers who helped create Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. They are joined by emerging development talent and community leaders from across the current rhythm gaming space. The studio is built with a community approach to ensure the players are a part of the journey from day one. Charles and Kai Huang are on the special advisory board. The Huang brothers were the original founders of the Guitar Hero franchise in 2005.

“Rhythm games are about more than just gameplay they’re about feel, flow, and connection to the music and to each other,” said studio head Simon Ebejer in a press release. “RedOctane Games is our way of giving back to a genre that means so much to us, while pushing it forward in new and exciting directions.”
