Ishimori Production announced Cyborg 009: Nemesis, a new anime adaptation based on Shōtarō Ishinomori’s Cyborg 009 manga. The announcement commemorates the 61st anniversary of the original manga.

Ishimori initially released the original Cyborg 009 manga in Shonengahosha’s Weekly King magazine in July 1964. Several anime adaptations based on the original Cyborg 009 series have released over the last few years. This includes the 009 Re:Cyborg movie in 2012 and the Cyborg 009 Call of Justice movie in 2016. A crossover original video anime featuring Devilman also released in 2015.

In 2019, Tsuguo Okazaki released the Cyborg 009 Bgooparts Delete manga. Later, in 2024, Scriptwriter Masaki Tsuji and artist Masato Hayase launched the Cyborg 009 Taiheiyō no Bōrei manga (Cyborg 009: Ghost of the Pacific) in April 2024.

At the time of writing, Ishimori Production have revealed very little details about the story, release date, staff, and cast of Cyborg 009: Nemesis. However, the Call of Justice movie is available to watch now on Netflix. The film is described as follows:

Joe Shimamura never quite fit in. An orphan with a troubled past, he awakens to find himself imprisoned and changed forever, the unwitting recipient of a new cyborg body, both strong and inhumanly fast. Before he can learn his captors’ evil plans, Joe is rescued by a team of eight outcasts from around the world, outcasts just like him, with formidable cyborg bodies.

With nothing to lose, Joe becomes the ninth member of the renegade cyborg group: he is Cyborg 009! Now, the cyborgs are ready to defend the world against Black Ghost, the ruthless international arms syndicate that created them!
