During Anime Expo 2025, SEGA released a new teaser trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, confirming that a new animation for the game will be released in September. In addition, the opening theme song of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, “Cross the Worlds – Opening ver.” by James Bourne and SEGA Sound Team, is now available on streaming services.

Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5, and Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon are among the first three DLC characters that will be released for free in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. A collaboration between Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Nickelodeon was also announced, featuring characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
In addition to free DLC characters, there will be paid DLC characters, thanks to various editions of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and the Season Pass. Sonic the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed is a pre-order bonus, and Steve, Alex, and the Creeper from Minecraft are other new additions with the Season Pass, for example. What’s more, the new Nickelodeon collaboration DLC will be available with the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass and/or Digital Deluxe Edition purchases.
The latest game in the series, Sonic X Shadow Generations, is available now for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Final Weapon reviewed Sonic X Shadow Generations and gave the title a 4.5/5, stating that the game “delivers all the thrills you could hope for with almost none of the drawbacks.”
Lastly, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds releases on September 25 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
