Anime platform Oshi announced that the anime adaptation of Takumi Yanai’s GATE: The Self-Defense Forces Fight Like This in Another Land (Gate: Jiei-tai Ka no Chi ni te, Kaku Tatakaeri) novel will be returning for its second season. The new season, titled GATE 2: Tides of Conflict, will be based on Takumi’s Season 2 novels.

Takumi Yanai first released the novel in 2006 and 2009 on the Arcadia platform, before AlphaPolis picked it up in 2010. Alphapolis successfully published it in print in five volumes and five side story volumes from 2010 to 2015. It then went on to inspire an anime adaptation, which ran for two cours, airing in 2015 and 2016. Fans can watch the anime on Crunchyroll.
