The Meikyū no Shiori film centers around the life of high school student Shiori Maezawa, who is transported into another world after her smartphone breaks. She then notices strange photos of herself on social media that she dosent remember posting and realizes a version of herself is acting independently in the real world. Shiori must now escape the digital labyrinth and confront the impostor.

Shoji Kawamori will be directing the film at SANZIGEN. Risa Ebata is handling the character design, and Taichi Hashimoto is writing the script for the anime. Slow Curve, Vector Vision, GAGA, and Fuji Television have been credited with the original story concept. Slow Curve is also credited with planning and producing the project.

Kawamori commented that the film is born from the idea that smartphones that people use are “another self,” which accumulates data such as personal information. Meikyū no Shiori will be Kawamori’s first original theatrical film. Shoji Kawamori is known for his work on the Macross and Arjuna series.
