Final Fantasy XIV Director Naoki Yoshida Announces Emergency Maintenance

Changes that will improve the Forked Tower experience will be implemented.

    Published:

In a post published on the Lodestone, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has announced an emergency maintenance will be held on July 3 to implement two pieces of feedback that were covered during the 87th Producer Live Letter.

Specifically, the 4-hour-long maintenance, which is planned to be held from July 2, 2025 11:00 p.m. to July 3, 2025 3:00 a.m. (PDT), will be adding some changes to the Forked Tower duty of Occult Crescent, the Field Exploration that was introduced in Patch 7.25.

Changes to the Forked Tower Entry System

Two changes will be implemented. The first is the ability to enter the Occult Crescent instance with a preformed alliance of up to 48 players. Furthermore, auroral mirages will generate sooner after the Occult Crescent instance has loaded, allowing for players to quickly submit their Ciphers in order to enter the tower.

Initially, these changes were planned to be implemented in August, with the release of Patch 7.3, but according to Yoshi-P, when evaluating the team’s development and QA capacity, he came to the conclusion that releasing some of those systems would be possible to do with minimal effect to their previously planned schedule. The other improvements, such as the ones meant for Cosmic Exploration, will be made on Patch 7.3.
