Netflix and Sanrio announced the My Melody & Kuromi stop-motion animation series will premiere on July 24, exclusively on the streaming service. The new Netflix series celebrates the 50th anniversary of My Melody and 20th anniversary of Kuromi, as both characters enjoy an adventure in Mariland. LE SSERAFIM perform the series theme song “Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino).”

Tomoki Misato (Pui Pui Molcar) directs the new My Melody & Kuromi series, which will run for 12 13-minute episodes. Shuko Nemoto is the screenwriter of the series. Toruku from WIT Studio (SPY x FAMILY) is producing the series.

In Mariland, My Melody opens a bustling cake shop with her friends Flat and Piano, drawing in customers every day. Meanwhile, Kuromi’s Japanese sweets shop across the street is always empty, fueling her determination to beat My Melody’s shop. One day, My Melody encounters a pink heart in the forest, which sets off a series of strange events in Mariland — and the two are suddenly faced with a crisis that threatens everyone. Can they protect their town and their friends?
Previously, Sanrio and Sunblink announced Hello Kitty Island Adventure surpassed 500,000 copies sold worldwide. The latest sales update includes digital copies of Hello Kitty Island Adventure sold for Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop and PC via Steam. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is coming soon to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
In June 2024, Final Weapon had the opportunity to preview Hello Kitty Island Adventure, which showed that it was shaping up to be an excellent title at the time. Final Weapon also reviewed Hello Kitty Island Adventure and gave it a 4/5 score, claiming it to be the perfect vacation for Sanrio fans.
