Kadokawa announced the TV anime adaptation of The Summer Hikaru Died will premiere on July 5 on Netflix. A new trailer confirms that Vaundy will perform “Saikai (Reunion),” the opening theme song for The Summer Hikaru Died.
The first episode will be screened at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku with cast and staff members in attendance. In addition, there will be a live broadcast on ABEMA with the three main cast members.
What’s more, the CyberAgent Group Anime Expo 2025 booth will feature The Summer Hikaru Died as a main attraction from July 3 to 6. The Anime Expo 2025 booth will feature an immersive photo experience for The Summer Hikaru Died. What’s more, attendees will have the opportunity to view the production materials for The Summer Hikaru Died.
Ahead of the July 5 premiere, a special screening titled “The Summer Hikaru Died – The North American Premiere of Episode 1″ will be held on July 4 at Anime Expo 2025. It will be accompanied by a special talk panel featuring original author Mokumokuren and Yoshiki Tsujinaka voice actor Chiaki Kobayashi, and the producers.

Ryohei Takeshita (Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night) is directing the new anime. Yuichi Takahashi is the character designer and chief animation director, and Masanobu Hiraoka is the DORODORO animator. The anime will be produced by Cygames Pictures and published by Kadokawa.
